Quintain receives planning approval for 153 new homes in Portmarnock

Quintain has received planning approval to build 153 new homes at an 11 acre site at St Marnock’s Bay in Portmarnock, North Dublin. The development will comprise 113 houses, 40 apartments/duplexes, and a local centre for the area containing three units for retail or restaurant/café use.

Quintain will be partnering with DRES Developments to develop the site, with the first units marketed for sale this summer. The gross development value of the project is €79m.

The site is adjacent to Quintain’s successful Dún Sí development of 150 homes which was launched for sale last year, with prices ranging from €350,000 to €710,000. Just like Dún Sí, the new homes will provide residents with a travel time of less than 20 minutes by Dart to Connolly Station and are located just minutes from Dublin Airport, the Port Tunnel, the M1 and the M50. Residents will have easy access to Portmarnock Village, the sandy coastline of Velvet Strand, and several high-quality local schools.

The sites in Portmarnock being developed by Quintain are part of the Portmarnock South Local Area Plan and subject to fast-track planning through An Bord Pleanála.

Michael Hynes, Joint Managing Partner of Quintain Ireland, said:

“We are very pleased to have secured this planning approval which takes us a step closer to achieving our wider vision of delivering almost 1,000 new homes in Portmarnock. Quintain’s commitment is to create attractive and sustainable communities delivering the right mix of housing alongside high-quality amenities. Our experienced team aims to build more than 9,000 homes across four sites spanning 460 acres in the Greater Dublin area, where there is a pressing need for increased housing supply.

“Portmarnock is an exceptional location, just minutes from the sea and next to Portmarnock Dart station. We saw strong demand for the houses we sold in Dún Sí last year, with buyers attracted by the extremely high standard of finish, with spacious rooms, high ceilings, and designer kitchens. These new homes will continue these high standards and provide home owners with a fantastic opportunity to live close to the sea and Portmarnock village, but with an easy commute to their place of work.”

The 153 planned new homes include:

·       78 three-bedroom houses
·       35 four-bedroom houses
·       27 two-bed duplex/apartments
·       19 three-bed duplex/apartments

Quintain expanded its operations into Ireland in November last year and will develop 9,000 new homes and 600,000 sq.ft. of commercial space in the Greater Dublin area.  The company’s existing land portfolio covers 460 acres of prime assets in Ireland at Adamstown, Clonburris, Portmarnock, and Cherrywood, and when developed will make Quintain the third largest residential developer in the country.
