They’ve got hundreds of acres of land, approval for thousands of homes, and the ambition to become one of the country’s biggest developers — starting at St Marnock’s Bay
There aren’t many developers that start life with enough land to build 9,000 homes, but that’s what Quintain Ireland had when it was set up by US private equity giant Lone Star in September last year.
The company, which is run by joint managing partners Eddie Byrne and Michael Hynes, owns four large sites: at Portmarnock in north Co Dublin, Adamstown and Clonburris to the west of the capital, and Cherrywood to the south.
In the past couple of weeks it has launched the first Quintain-branded development with the latest phase of St Marnock’s Bay beside the train station in Portmarnock. (Incidentally, St Marnock was a real saint who came from Scotland to Ireland in the 6th century.)
